From May 25 to May 29, Katsuyuki Kondo Sensei, head (somucho) of the ancient Japanese school of Daito-ryu Aiki Jujutsu and holder of the full license to transmit knowledge (menkyo kaiden), was in Sofia. He visited Bulgaria at the invitation of his student Teodor Lekov, leader of the Daito-ryu Aiki Jujutsu group in Bulgaria.
Kondo Katsuyuki Sensei is one of the most prominent Japanese martial arts teachers; he is the successor to Tokimune Takeda Sensei, son of Sokaku Takeda Sensei, the man who developed and popularized Daito-ryu Aiki Jujutsu in the early 20th century. Many modern martial arts styles originate from Daito-ryu Aiki Jujutsu, the most popular of which is Aikido, founded by Morihei Ueshiba O'Sensei.
On May 28, Kondo Katsuyuki Sensei was a guest at a demonstration held by members of the Shinbukan Club, who demonstrated iaido, jodo, and Daito-ryu Aiki Jujutsu, as well as members of the Aikibudo Club, led by Stefan Zlatev Sensei, who demonstrated aikido. After the demonstration, Sensei Katsuyuki Kondo expressed his gratitude and gave a lecture on the history and significance of Budo. The event left unforgettable memories for the participants, who had the exceptional honor of meeting such a legendary Japanese master in person. |
